ARTIST STATEMENT

I paint using the encaustic technique, a process that requires a torch to fuse beeswax and damar resin onto a wood panel. This versatile medium allows for objects and other art materials (i.e. oil, inks, shellac, graphite and pastels) to be embedded within the layers. I create texture through carving and accretion.
