Welcome to the Family Zone ("Zone E")! Located on the NW corner of Powderhorn Park Lake around the cement stage, is a lively hub of creative activities for community members of all ages! Dive into interactive and collaborative art projects, facepainting, go on a Powderhorn Art Fair scavenger hunt, or settle in for a puppet show with ice cream and lemonade to cool off.

Our team at Young Builders and Designers is excited to explore Inventors at the Powderhorn Art Fair! Create a FUTURISTIC Invention with our Family Friendly Young Builders and Designers Tent, followed by a special online competition for a chance to win prizes!!

Young Builders and Designers is a program offering activities to youth in grades k-12 with the opportunity to compete for prizes and the best builder/designer awards! We use LEGO(R) Parts and other materials to design and create projects based on a quarterly theme. Join us for our workshops and join in on the competition! Our partnerships have included the LEGO(R) Store at the Mall of America, The University of Minnesota’s Architecture and Design School, Minneapolis and St. Paul Parks and Recreation, The Weisman Art Museum, as well as many other organizations and businesses throughout the Twin Cities. You can even build your own team!

Join us for a fun and interactive scavenger hunt designed for all ages! Explore the fair by finding different kinds of art, meeting artists, and experiencing the creativity around you. Complete three levels of challenges—from spotting colorful paintings and handmade jewelry to discovering large-scale sculptures and art made of glass or metal. Along the way, dance or sing at the KRSM DJ booth, enjoy tasty treats, and collect signatures from artists. Finish each level to earn rewards like stickers and candy, and complete all three for a chance to win original artwork donated by our talented artists. Bring your completed hunt to the Family Zone Tent and celebrate your artistic adventure!

The world is upside down, and Juan Bobo is going to do something to turn it right side up! Inspired by Puerto Rican folk stories, this show combines puppetry, music, Spanish, and English in a delightful tale of riddles, silly devils, a missing pig, and a village in need of a hero.

KRSM is a low-power FM radio station based out of the Phillips neighborhood in South Minneapolis. Broadcasting at 98.9 FM, this is a hyper-local platform for amplifying the voices, stories, cultures, and conversations happening in our neighborhoods. KRSM's focus is on communities that are marginalized, misrepresented, and erased by traditional media. For example, KRSM's diverse schedule features shows in 6 different languages (English, Spanish, Somali, Ojibwe, Hmong, and Haitian Creole), and airs 10 hours of programming each week by Indigenous hosts.​
