Artist: Dan Ott
I am naturally drawn to big bold colors and splashy in-your-face design. Over time, however, I have learned to appreciate the subtle beauty of a softer more nuanced palette. "standing on the shoulders of giants" is an example of my attraction to earth tones and how they can communicate such strength. The material for this piece comes from an assortment of vintage photograph holders from the turn of the century. In addition to the complementary colors, each square has its own unique texture embossed into the cardstock which, unfortunately, is difficult to see in a photograph or reproduction of the piece. If you like the color scheme, you will love this piece once you are able to see (and feel) the textures.
