Valmeyer sycamore large vase. This particular item is from a tree that fell three years ago in Old Valmeyer, IL. It sat for two years before I talked to land owners The company that cut the tree down wouldn't take so they were so grateful that I was interested and told me I could have as much as I wanted. I went to retrieve it in the burning heat of the summer. The tree was over 200 years old. It was there before the levees, the city of Old Valmeyer and Fort de Chartres, just the Native Americans . This Sycamore survived several early floodings and even the great 1993 flood that managed to move a whole town up on the bluff. Just shows us that through all trauma something beautiful can be made. Features burl figured wood, which is a natural texture phenomenon. This piece takes my breath away every time I look at it.
