Artist: Dan Ott
I live 30 minutes from Madison, Wisconsin which serves as the state capital and host to an assortment of protests each year. As an artist who loves to make things, and photograph things made by others, I really enjoy protests because they are always such a great demonstration of creative expression. Of course I like to hang around during clean up time so I can snag some meaningful signage in order to commemorate the event. I enjoy pulling large commercially produced signs and posters out of the trash because they have such great lettering. That's how I made "Engaged in the Process."...large red letters cut into various sized squares and then layered on top of each other. Totally abstract, and filled with the energy of the day. This piece comes with a double mat, not surprisingly, red and white, and is ready for a frame.
