This elegant copper bonsai sculpture is handcrafted from 300 feet of copper wire strands that have been twisted together and shaped to form the roots, trunk, branches, and leaves. The copper wire will continue to develop a beautiful patina over time. This tree depicts the root-over-rock bonsai style. This tree features a piece of live-edge cherry and a beautiful granite stone I collected during a hike on Lake Superior's shore. Together, the elements--copper, granite, and cherry--complement each other in color in texture. The tree is attached to the base using adhesive, and the roots are mechanically fitted to the base materials. The cherry base is hand finished with Danish oil, shellac, and wax to accentuate the wood's unique grain and coloration.
