This beautiful copper bonsai sculpture is handcrafted from over 300 feet of copper wire strands that have been twisted together and shaped to form the roots, trunk, branches, and leaves. The copper wire will continue to develop a beautiful patina over time. The tree depicts the root-over-rock bonsai style. This piece features roots intertwined with the stack of slate stones and the cracks within the live edge cherry wood resulting in an organic feel for this sculpture. The tree is attached to the base using adhesive, and the trunk/roots are mechanically fitted to the base materials. The cherry base hand was finished with coats of Danish oil, shellac, and wax to accentuate the unique grain and coloration within the wood. This finishing technique takes a bit more work, but the results are worth it!
