True case of pictures don't do it justice! A distinct transition flows through the bowl as the distorted grain of the wood is taken over by the chaos of the burl. Gold tinted resin fills the voids where bark ran through sections of the burl. It was meticulously hand sanded smooth and finished with a Danish oil base and a salad bowl topcoat finish and buffed to a beautiful semi gloss. Contrasting the smooth finish are two live edge sections on the outside left uncut. These sections give a glimpse of the spiky thorns that laid just beneath the surface of the bark which gave the wood the unique heavily patterned eye burl grain once cut and sanded smooth. The smooth finish allows you to simply wipe with a dry cloth, chemical cleaners should never be needed in general care.
