Hironobu Nishitateno

Nanten Pottery

After graduating university in economics, Hironobu “Nishi” Nishitateno turned a 180 to follow his artistic passion. He completed a pottery program in southern Japan, then apprenticed east of Tokyo. Bringing the energy of Japan when he immigrated to the US, he established Nanten Pottery in 2008. Nishi concentrates on simple forms, calming glazes, and everyday functionality that resonate between pot and owner. His pieces bring unexpected delight and a sense of peace to everyday rituals.
