CATEGORIES
  • Applicants can apply in one of these categories:
    clay - fiber - wood - paper - glass - leather - jewelry - painting - drawing sculpture - mixed media - printmaking - photography - digital art*
 
* Digital Art: This category includes any original work for which the original image, or the manipulation of other source material, was executed by the artist using a computer. Work in this category must use archival quality materials.
REQUIREMENTS
  • All work must be original, designed and created by the accepted artist as represented by work in the submitted slides.
  • The artist’s presence is required for the entire show.
  • If your work is in more than one category, you must submit separate applications for each category (i.e. you are a potter and also wish to display jewelry).
  • Exhibitors must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Artists may share a booth only if the work is truly collaborative.
  • Artists must have own 10 x 10 tent.
SLIDES
  • Applicants submit four top quality slides of current work. These slides will be viewed simultaneously.
  • You, your name, or your trade name should not be visible in any of the slides.
  • Enclose a stamped, self addressed #10 envelope for notification & slide return. Slides of accepted artists returned at the fair.

LABEL SLIDES LIKE THIS:

  • Name on upper face of each slide
  • Media on lower face of each side
  • Red dot in lower left hand corner
  • Number in lower right to correspond to number of slide
    described on the enclosed application form
EXHIBIT SPACE
  • Artists are provided an 11  x 11 foot space on grass.
  • One booth space per accepted artist. No double booths.
  • There are a limited number of larger booth spaces (15 x 11) available, depending on park conditions, for an additional $50 fee.
  • Main Exhibitor Committee will consider all booth location requests but cannot guarantee your requested placement.
  • Display units should be designed for outside use and capable of withstanding the elements.
  • Presentation must be reasonably contained in the designated booth space.
  • Artists may drive into the park on paved paths to booth space for loading & unloading.
  • No electricity.
OTHER EXHIBIT OPPORTUNITIES

Community Showcase:

  • Artists, poets, and musicians, who live in Powderhorn neighborhood, can participate on a smaller scale than main exhibitors.
  • Participants are juried; sites are on small tables in tented area.

Group Exhibitor:

  • Community, arts or cultural organizations can host a particular group of artists or presenters who reflect their organization.

Selection process
  • The Powderhorn Art Fair selects a panel of three independent jurors to review the work of each applicant. Jurors are artists, professionals and educators from the community.
Awards
  • On Saturday during the fair, judges will review each artist’s work on site. Scores will determine award recipients and exhibitors to be invited back to next year’s show.
  • First, Second, Third Place, Honorable Mention, and Spirit of Powderhorn recipients will be invited back with jury and booth fee waived (large booth fee extra).
  • Ten invitational award winners will be invited back with jury fee waived.
Fees
  • Jury Fee for each category entered: $20 (non-refundable).
  • Booth Fee: (11 x 11) $190 (returned if not selected, accepted artists check deposited upon notification in late April.
  • Larger Booth Fee: (15 x 11) $50 (optional) separate check required
  • No Double Booths
